Patriotic Pies Giveaway Marks MoonPie's July Fourth Celebration
27 Jun 2025
CHATTANOOGA, TN — MoonPie, the original graham cracker marshmallow sandwich from Chattanooga Bakery, Inc., is giving back to service members to celebrate Independence Day.
For the week leading up to the Fourth of July, the snack cake brand will match designated MoonPie donations to active-duty service members and ship its Patriotic Pies free of charge from Chattanooga Bakery to troops via the USO.
“We’re honored to celebrate our men and women in uniform with a taste of home,” said Tory Johnston, VP of sales and marketing at Chattanooga Bakery. “We’ve been making MoonPies for five generations, and we’re so grateful to the troops who protect us and serve our country. This is our way of saying thank you.”
The Patriotic Pies are red, white and blue Mini MoonPies in strawberry, vanilla and blueberry flavors, respectively. Chattanooga Bakery, which produces more than 1 million MoonPies a day, aims to distribute that same number of Patriotic Pies through its ongoing fundraising program in 2025.
The baking company works with the USO, Friends of the Troops and Veterans of Foreign Wars to distribute Patriotic Pies to active-duty troops on military bases stateside and overseas, as well as to veterans year-round, with Averitt transporting them to US bases for free.
